Royal Navy Type 12 ASW Frigates Whitby and Rothesay Class
This class was the first of a long line of Royal Navy post-war frigates (apart from the destroyer conversions types 15 and 16)
and can be considered as the best anti-submarine warfare escorts of their era. The 6 "Whitbys" were in effect the prototypes
of every Royal Navy anti-submarine warfare frigate up until the Type 21 and Type 22 two decades later. The "Rothesays"
originally differed only in internal layout but were later refitted to Leander Class frigate standard.
